At Al Badr Kunafa AB we take pride in carrying on a rich tradition of oriental sweets and pastries, created with passion, expertise, and the finest ingredients. Our journey began in 1997 in Homs, Syria, under the name Al Badr Sweets, where we specialized in premium chilled pastries and oriental delicacies.
Over the years, we established several stores throughout Syria and built a reputation as one of the country’s most appreciated manufacturers of Kunafa and Baklava. Our products became the obvious choice for anyone wanting to experience authentic and high-quality sweets.
A new beginning in Sweden
Due to the war in Syria, we were forced to leave our homeland, but our passion for the craft and love for our products drove us forward. In 2017, we moved to Sweden with a clear vision: to recreate the authentic taste of Middle Eastern pastries and make it available to everyone in Sweden and Europe.
With the same high standards and craftsmanship that we have had from the beginning, we began producing Kunafa dough and Baklava here in Sweden, using carefully selected ingredients and traditional methods that preserve the genuine flavor.

What is Kunafa dough?
Kunafa dough is one of the Middle East's most iconic and beloved ingredients, used for centuries to create irresistible desserts.
As early as the 9th century , Kunafa dough was mentioned in historical texts, and its origins are believed to trace from Egypt to Syria and throughout the Middle East. One of the earliest descriptions of Kunafa can be found in “Kitab al-Tabikh” (The Book of Dishes), where the dough was filled with nuts, fried, and finished with honey – a recipe that is still popular today.
In the 15th century , a new technique was developed where liquid dough was poured over a hot metal plate, creating the thread-like consistency that Kunafa is known for today. This method is still used in our production to ensure authenticity and quality in every bite.
