Kunafa rolls with cream filling


  • 400g kunafa dough
  • 200g liquid butter
  • Syrup
  • Chopped pistachios for decoration

Ingredients for the cream filling:

  • 380g milk
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons of granulated sugar
  • 1 small tablespoon of vanilla extract


Cream filling:

  1. Pour the milk into a saucepan and heat it over a sufficiently strong flame.
  2. Add the sugar, cornstarch and vanilla extract and stir until the mixture begins to boil.
  3. Remove from heat and let cool to room temperature.

Preparation of kunafa:

  1. Grease the bottom of a large baking sheet and place the kunafa threads on the bottom.
  2. Brush the dough strands with liquid butter.
  3. Take part of the dough strands, about 20 cm long and 5 cm wide, and put a tablespoon of the cream at the end.
  4. Roll the thread into a roll. Repeat the process with the rest of the dough.
  5. Grease the bottom of a baking sheet and place all the kunafa rolls next to each other, pressed tightly together in the sheet.
  6. Grill them in the oven at 180°C until golden.
  7. Immediately add cold syrup to the rolls when they are removed from the oven and let them cool.
  8. Garnish with chopped pistachios on top for a pretty look.
Note: You can also use other types of sweeteners according to your preference.
