Dubai Chocolate (Kunafa bar)

Dubai Chocolate is a modern take on the classic Middle Eastern sharing dessert Kunafa. It combines crispy, buttery kunafa dough with a rich chocolate filling for a decadent taste experience. Perfect for special occasions, these chocolate filled kunafa bars are easy to prepare and guaranteed to impress.

Ingredients

  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 400 g Kunafa dough , roughly chopped or broken
  • 3 milk chocolate cookies (85-115 g each), coarsely chopped
  • 3 dark chocolate cookies (85-115 g each), coarsely chopped
  • 3/4 cup pistachio cream
  • 1/2 cup tahini

Instructions

  1. Toast the Kunafa Dough: Melt the butter in a large frying pan over medium heat. Add the kunafa dough and toast it until it turns deep golden brown and crispy, without burning it. Remove from heat and let cool.

  2. Melt the chocolate: Place all the chopped chocolate in a large microwave-safe bowl and melt the chocolate in the microwave for 2 minutes. Stop halfway to stir. Stir when done until the chocolate is melted and smooth.

  3. Prepare the chocolate mold: Pour a thin layer of the melted chocolate into each compartment of a chocolate mold. Make sure there is still plenty of space left in each compartment. Put the mold in the fridge for 10 minutes to let the chocolate harden.

  4. Mix the filling: Mix the roasted Kunafan, pistachio cream and tahini in a large bowl. Mix well so that everything is evenly distributed.

  5. Fill the chocolate mold: Remove the chocolate mold from the refrigerator. Fill each tray with a thick layer of the kunafa mixture. Use a spoon to flatten the mixture. Pour the remaining melted chocolate on top of the kunafa mixture and spread it evenly. Place the molds back in the refrigerator for 30 minutes to 1 hour to allow the chocolate to set completely.

  6. Serve: Take the chocolate cookies out of the molds. Store them in the refrigerator until ready to serve. Enjoy your delicious chocolate kunafa!
