Dubai Chocolate (Kunafa bar)

The Dubai Chocolate Kunafa Bar is a modern take on the classic Middle Eastern sharing dessert kunafa. It combines crispy, buttery kunafa dough with a rich chocolate filling for a decadent taste experience. Perfect for special occasions, these chocolate filled kunafa bars are easy to prepare and guaranteed to impress.

Ingredients:

For Kunafa:

- 400 grams of kunafa dough (frozen and thawed)

- 160 grams of butter, melted

- 2/5 cup (0.4 cup or about 100 ml) sugar

For Chocolate Filling:

- 320 grams of dark chocolate, chopped

- 320 ml cream

- 3.2 tablespoons of butter

For Assembly:

- 160 grams of pistachios, chopped (optional)

Instructions:

Preparation of Kunafa Dough:

1. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius.

2. Place the kunafa dough in a large bowl and pull the strands apart to separate them.

3. Pour the melted butter over the kunafa dough and mix well until each strand is coated with butter.

4. Add sugar and mix well again.

Make the chocolate filling:

1. Heat the cream in a saucepan over medium heat until it begins to simmer (do not boil).

2. Remove the pan from the heat and add the chopped chocolate.

3. Leave for 2 minutes, then stir until the chocolate is completely melted and the mixture is smooth.

4. Add the butter and stir until melted and combined.

Mounting:

1. Line a larger rectangular baking dish (approx. 30x40 cm) with baking paper or adjust to a larger baking dish to get the right thickness of the layers.

2. Put half of the buttered kunafa dough in the bottom of the mold and press it down with your hand or a spoon.

3. Pour the chocolate filling over the kunafa layer and spread it evenly.

4. Cover the chocolate filling with the rest of the kunafa dough and press down gently.

Baking:

1. Bake in the preheated oven for about 30-35 minutes or until the kunafa top is golden brown and crispy.

2. Remove the mold from the oven and let it cool completely before cutting it into bars.

Serving:

1. Cut kunafa into rectangular bars and garnish with chopped pistachios if desired.

2. Serve them at room temperature or slightly chilled.
